Genetically Modified Organisms
Over recent years, the use of genetically modified organisms in food items has become a topic of raging debate amongst consumers, farmers, government officials, activists, and member of both the health and science community. From one perspective, health activists along with many general consumers express great concern over the use of GMOs in crops.
On the other hand, supporters of GMOs insist the use of GMOs in crops is harmless. They say consumers are benefitting because foods including GMOs are more nutritious. They insist that the use of GMOs allows for increases in food production and that crops require less pesticides to ward off insects because crops are engineered to be insect resistant.
Even though GMO-containing food items are legally required to be labeled in many other developed countries, it is currently not required in the United States. We at Nutrex Hawaii are here to present the facts about genetically modified organisms. We do believe that it is best to avoid them and will show you how to best identify foods containing them so you may make better decisions regarding the foods you buy.
