Where Your Spirulina Comes From

Nutrex Farm
Hawaii: Nutrex Hawaii is proud of where our spirulina comes from – Kona, Hawaii, USA. Hawaii is an ideal location to grow microalgae with lots of year-round sunlight, warm temperatures, low population density, and fresh water. Other elements that make our spirulina unique include:
Continuous CultivationContinuous Cultivation: Since 1985, Hawaiian Spirulina has been in constant production 12 months out of the year – creating a superior strain of spirulina with the highest levels of key nutrients of any spirulina in the world.
Cultivated & GrownCultivated & Grown in a Biosecure Zone:Hawaiian Spirulina is the only spirulina cultivated in a Biosecure Zone that is free of herbicides, pesticides, and industrial pollutants.
Continuous CultivationClean Water: Each spirulina pond is fed 100% potable drinking water from Hawaiian aquifers and then infused with a small amount of deep ocean water, providing many different trace minerals.
Continuous CultivationLocation: Kona, Hawaii has more coastal sunlight than any other area in the United States. Constant exposure to sunlight ensures high levels of carotenoids are present in our spirulina.

Continuous CultivationOcean Chill Drying: Nutrex Hawaii developed this drying system to minimize the oxidation of carotenes, enzymes and fatty acids that occurs in standard dryers. The closed system process takes 3-7 seconds and uses less than 1% oxygen to preserve the phytonutrients.
