Chad Kalele

Chad Kalele

Bio:

Born and raised in Kona, Chad graduated from Konawaena High School in Kealakekua and still calls Kona home with his wife, Janelle, from Hilo, and their 4 beautiful keiki.

Chad works full time at the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai as an Alaka'i Nalu Beach Boy where his office is the beautiful blue Pacific Ocean. When he's not at work you can find him and his ohana with their feet in the sand and swimming in the ocean. The ocean is a big part of the Kalele ohana lifestyle.

When did you get into surfing? "I got into surfing at a very young age and never stopped. It wasn't until about 10 years ago that I got into stand up paddle surfing. I've also been outrigger canoe paddling for over 15 years now."

Chad has raced in the Molokai to Oahu outrigger canoe race, the Queen Liliuokalani Long Distance outrigger canoe races and recently took 4th overall men stand up surfing in the Braddah Mel's Waterman Championship at Makaha Beach on the island of Oahu. You can also find Chad as a volunteer doing water patrol for many Big Island events to make sure swimmers and paddlers are safe while competing.

What do you enjoy doing when your not in the ocean? "I like to chill with my family, watch sports, go cruising and eating." Do you have a favorite local dish? "Oh yes! Shoyu chicken with rice topped with mayonnaise!" Now that's one local Hawaiian boy!

I Take BioAstin:

"It keeps me feeling and looking young and keeps me energized! I also take BioAstin to helps protect my skin after long paddling sessions and my long days at work under the hot Hawaiian sun."

What does a training day for you look like? "I do weight training at the gym at least 4-5 times a week. I start around 4:30 AM til about 6 AM. Then I head straight to work. I do my cardio at work which consists of outrigger canoe paddling or Stand up paddle Boarding."
